Peel Region reporting 134 new COVID-19 cases, 77 in Brampton and 52 in Mississauga

The Region of Peel is reporting 134 new COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday (June 9).

Of Wednesday’s new cases, 77 are in Brampton, while 52 are in Mississauga, and just one is in Caledon.

This brings the total for the Region to 110,431 cases. Of these, 108,846 have recovered, while 814 are still pending, 3,048 have been hospitalized, and 771 have died.

As of Wednesday, 59.6 per cent of cases are in Brampton, 36.1 per cent are in Mississauga, and just four per cent are in Caledon.

The median age for cases in Peel is 36, and residents in their 20’s continue to make up most of the cases at 24.6 per cent, followed by those in their 30’s–who make up 17.3 per cent of cases, those in their 40’s–who make up 14.4 per cent, and those in their 50’s–who make up 13.8 per cent.

The Province is reporting 411 new cases on Wednesday, as well as 33 new deaths. With 30,456 tests completed, the positivity rate of 1.35 per cent is the lowest in Ontario since February.

Additionally, the Province is reporting another 177,506 vaccinations, and, as of Wednesday, 62 per cent of Ontarians have received at least one dose of a vaccine, including 71.6 per cent of adults, and 10 per cent of adults have been fully immunized.
