Peel Region appoints new Solicitor and Director of Legal Services

Peel Region has selected Patricia Caza as its new legal services director and regional solicitor.

A 20-year employee of the Region, Caza started her tenure as legal counsel for the Region and has since been senior legal counsel, director of procurement, and deputy regional solicitor.

Caza also currently serves as chair of the Peel Housing Corporation’s board of directors and previously served as vice-chair of the board from 2018 to 2020.

In her new role, Caza will provide legal advice to Regional Council and lead the Region’s legal team.

Before to joining the Region, Caza worked in private practice with a law firm for nine years. According to her LinkedIn profile, Caza worked as a lawyer for the firm Shaw, McLellan & Ironside in Collingwood between 1992 and 2001.

Gary Kent, chief financial officer for the Region, said Caza’s municipal and private sector legal experience “will play a key role in helping the Region in realizing its strategic vision.”

Caza is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Municipal Law Departments Association of Ontario, and the International Municipal Lawyers Association.
