The Hamilton Police Service (HPS) is investigating a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle that resulted in life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred on Thursday (Oct. 14), just before 10:20 p.m. Police say a 38-year-old male attempted to run across Main St West from the north to the south side of the street before he was struck by a vehicle travelling westbound.

Police say the driver remained at the scene and tended to the male until emergency crews arrived.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Due to its severity, the HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation.
