UPDATE: Man suffers life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle; major road closed in Mississauga

A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a vehicle in Mississauga last night.
The man was struck in the Dixie Road and Highway 401 area around 10:35 p.m. yesterday (April 18), Peel Regional Police said.
Police didn’t provide the age of the man.
He remains in life-threatening condition this morning, police said.
The vehicle remained on scene.
As of 7 a.m. southbound Dixie Road between Shawson Drive to Aerowood Drive was closed for the investigation. The closure is blocking Highway 401 ramps on the south side of Dixie Road.
Drivers are asked to use alternate routes.
Update: In a post just before 9 a.m., police said the road has reopened.
