Pedestrian struck by SUV in Pickering; dies in hospital

A 46 year-old man is dead after being struck by an SUV in Pickering Tuesday night.

Durham Police responded after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Kingston Road east of Rosebank Road around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday evening. The victim was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to a Toronto-area trauma hospital. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to investigate. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
