Pedestrian struck by school bus last month in east Hamilton succumbs to injuries

A 71-year-old Hamilton man has succumbed to injuries sustained when he was struck by a school bus last month in the east end.

The man, whose identity is being withheld out of respect for the victim’s family, was struck while crossing the road near Cannon Street and Kenilworth Avenue shortly after 7 a.m. on Dec.14, 2021.

On January 4, the victim died in hospital as a result of his injuries and police said the collision remains under investigation.

This is now the City’s 15th fatal motor vehicle collision in Hamilton for 2021 and the eighth pedestrian fatality.

The bus, at the time of the collision, was being driven by a 57-year-old man and did not have any children on board, police said.

Witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are being asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-546-4753 or 546-4755.
