UPDATE: Pedestrian struck and killed by car on highway in Hamilton

UPDATE: Hamilton police say roadways along the Red Hill Valley Parkway where the collision happened are now open to motorists.


A man has died after being hit by a car on a major highway in Hamilton last night.

Hamilton Police say around 11 p.m., a pedestrian was struck in the northbound lanes of the Red Hill Valley Parkway, just north of King Street.

The 29-year-old man whose name and place of residence have not been disclosed was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, the driver of the grey Chrysler vehicle involved in the crash, along with two passengers, remained at the scene and are cooperating with police.

Both directions of the Red Hill Valley Parkway were closed for the investigations and currently parts of the parkway remain closed.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area for the time being.

Police have not provided a timeline for when they anticipate the roadways to reopen to motorists.
