Pedestrian sent to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Mississauga

A man was transported to hospital after being hit by a vehicle as he walked across a busy intersection in Mississauga last night.

Peel Regional Police say they responded to the incident, near Mississauga Valley Boulevard and Central Parkway East, shortly before 7 p.m.

According to police, a man was transported to a trauma centre, where he’s in stable condition.

As a result of the incident, investigators temporarily closed Mississauga Valley Boulevard in both directions, between Elm Drive East and Central Parkway East.

Additionally, eastbound traffic on Central Parkway was closed at Hurontario Street, with westbound traffic on Central Parkway East being diverted.

Due to these closures, commuters were advised of substantial delays and asked to seek alternative routes to alleviate congestion.

The roads were reopened to motorists early Sunday morning.
