Air Canada worst in North America in on-time performance in 2023

Air Canada, which operates more flights out of Pearson Airport in Mississauga than any other carrier, has been named Best Airline in North America for the third consecutive year by a popular U.S.-based travel magazine.

And for the second-straight year, the Canadian carrier was recognized for Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness by Global Traveler’s readership of frequent luxury and business travellers.

Global Traveler released the results today of its 18th annual GT Tested Reader Survey, which asks respondents to name the best in more than 80 categories. More than 22,000 people responded to this year’s survey, which ran from last Dec. 14 through Sept. 30.

Air Canada has also been reaffirmed by APEX, a global airline passenger experience association, as a five-star carrier, the top rating. The ratings are compiled annually and based on passenger feedback.

“Thank you to our passionate employees who’ve worked tirelessly as we welcome our customers back. Without these dedicated employees and our loyal customers, being recognized with (these honours) wouldn’t be possible,” said Lucie Guillemette, Air Canada executive vice-president and chief commercial officer.

The award-winning corporate culture we have built and cultivated over the past decade, rooted in resilience, teamwork and empathy, is a key strength. It is our culture that allowed us to pivot quickly, while keeping customers at the centre of everything we did as we responded early in the pandemic, and this continues.”

Earlier this fall, Business Traveler Magazine named Air Canada Best North American Airline for International Travel.

Mississauga’s Pearson Airport is Air Canada’s largest base.
