Hamilton Public Health Services are urging patrons of a downtown nightclub to be tested for COVID-19 after an outbreak has been declared there.

On Thursday (Aug. 19) an outbreak of COVID-19 was declared at Sizzle Nightclub in Hess Village after nine patrons tested positive for the virus.

“As a precaution, Hamilton Public Health Services is advising anyone who may have been at Sizzle Nightclub on August 7, August 13 or August 14, 2021 to get tested for COVID-19 and self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19,” a press release issued Friday (Aug. 20) said.

“Members of the public with questions should contact the Public Health Services’ COVID-19 Hotline: 905-974-9848.”

Public health said it is investigating the matter. So far, no fines have been issued.

The outbreak at Sizzle is among 11 active outbreaks across Hamilton at the moment.

According to public health, an outbreak is declared if there is evidence of COVID-19 transmission within a particular setting.
