Ongoing construction in Brampton will see lane closures on Queen Street with some lasting well into next year.

Peel Public Works said on Thursday that construction near the Claireville Conservation area has Queen Street down to two eastbound lanes from Goreway Drive to the west of McVean Drive until Nov. 3.

But westbound Queen Street has also been reduced to two lanes headed westbound from west of McVean Drive to east of Goreway Drive and Humber Station Road, with those restrictions expected to last until sometime in the spring of 2024.

Peel Public Works says two lanes in each direction on Queen Street will remain open during the construction.

Construction and watermain repairs have also caused months of road closures and detours in downtown Brampton, with crews closing the southbound lanes of Main Street North to all through traffic this week from Nelson Street West and Theatre Lane to Queen Street.

The most recent downtown closures started on Wednesday and are expected to last at least three weeks with detours on Queen Street, Theatre Lane and George Street.
