PARTIAL LOCKDOWN – Ajax school placed in ‘hold and secure’

An Ajax high school has been placed in a ‘hold and secure’ with police on the scene and the doors locked–the second incident at a Durham Region high school today.

Students at J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate, located on Harwood Avenue, north of Rossland Road, were placed in a partial lockdown and the school remains under supervision while police investigate an unidentified threat.

A post from the Durham District School Board says school officials are following the direction of Durham Police, and further updates will be provided when available.

Police were called to McLaughlin Collegiate in west Oshawa this morning to investigate an alleged assault on a staff member by a student.

Police say the staff member was not injured and the student was taken into custody.
