Family Day in Hamilton in 2024: What’s open and closed

Residents planning to visit Brampton’s downtown core may need to find a new spot to park.

The parking garage at Brampton City Hall will close for repairs starting on June 28 until the end of summer.

In them meantime, several other downtown parking garages remain open for use: Nelson Square Garage, West Tower Garage, John Street Garage and Market Square Garage.

The City says the garage at City Hall, which has been in  service for more than 33 years, requires various repairs to keep it in good working condition:

  • replacing the waterproofing membrane above the garage roof slab
  • replacing the asphalt in front of the loading dock and snow melting system for the ramp at the garage entrance
  • replacing the entire waterproofing/traffic topping system with new ultramodern materials
  • repairing delaminated/deteriorated concrete for columns and walls
  • removing corrosion from existing railings in stairwell E and repaint the area
  • replacing the current elevator
  • replacing existing railings in stairwell F

Additionally, all services at Brampton City Hall will still be available during the construction.

The City Clerk’s Office, Service Brampton and Marriage Ceremonies will relocate and be available in the West Tower: Marriage ceremonies in West Tower 3A, Service Brampton in West Tower 2A and City Clerk’s Office will be in West Tower 2B.

More information on parking is available at the City’s website.
