Parking cop gets foot stomped on; assault, drug charges laid against Mississauga man

The foot stomping of a Toronto parking enforcement officer during the issuing of a ticket has led to assault and drug charges against a Mississauga man.
Toronto Police said in a news release today the officer was verbally abused, threatened with bodily harm and then had their foot stomped on this past Monday afternoon near Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue in Toronto by an angry driver who didn’t want his vehicle ticketed.
According to police, the officer was issuing a parking violation notice to a vehicle at Soudan Avenue and Dunfield Avenue in the heart of Toronto at about 4:30 p.m. when the confrontation unfolded.
Police allege “the driver approached the officer and became verbally abusive. The driver made threats of bodily harm towards the officer.”
Moments later, the man stomped on the parking officer’s foot, police said.
Responding police officers found an amount of drugs on the man during their investigation of the incident.
Steven Bulut, 54, of Mississauga, is charged with:
- assault peace officer
- utter threat of bodily harm
- possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking
He’s scheduled to appear in Toronto court on Feb. 27.
