Looking for a job this summer outside the city and in the great outdoors? Then consider applying to Ontario Parks to become a park warden for the 2022 season.

Ontario Parks is looking for wardens and park staff to help manage the province’s 340 parks like Oakville’s Bronte Creek, Caledon’s Forks of the Credit, and Rock Point Provincial Parks south of Hamilton.

From helping guests with park information, maintaining trails and helping with backcountry hiking and paddling, wardens protect park property and resources while ensuring park visitors have a peaceful and enjoyable visit.

Applicants need to be at least 19 years old, have a valid Class G Ontario driver’s licence or equivalent, ability to obtain a criminal background check, and complete a provided Provincial Park Warden Course.

“Park wardens gain experience in resource management protection, public safety, enforcement, Ontario Parks policies, provincial acts and legislation, conflict resolution, customer service, and park operations,” according to Ontario Parks.

Warden contract lengths vary across the province, but Ontario Parks says most park wardens are employed from June to September during the peak season.

Ontario Parks is also looking for students off for the summer to fill positions for Gate Staff, Store Clerks, maintenance roles and Natural Heritage Interpreters.
