Mississauga and Brampton residents are encouraged to double-check their home as Health Canada issues an alert for a toy magnet set “DigitDots” and recalls various cleansing and wet wipes.

The following products are affected:

Three different sets of DigitDots magnets: DigitDots 3 mm Magnetic Balls – sold as aggregated loose magnets in sets of 512 multi-colored magnetic balls, DigitDots 5 mm Magnetic Balls – sold as aggregated loose magnets in sets of 222 silver magnetic balls or 224 multi-colored magnetic balls.

Risk: These toy magnet sets pose a serious health concern for users due to their small size and powerful magnetic ability. If more than one magnet is ingested at a time, the magnets can attempt to connect within the body and cause tearing and blockage of the internal organs.

What you should do: These sets were sold by HD Premier online at the website ilovedigitdots.com and have since been removed from the site.

The foreign company has officially recalled the product in the United States but has not released the same statement for Canada. Health Canada encourages consumers to immediately stop use of the product, make sure all pieces are accounted for, and dispose of it in the garbage.

Various Oasis bedbaths and shampoo caps, Conti cleansing wipes and barrier cloths and Senset wet wipes

Risk: Health Canada says some of the recalled products have microbial contamination. This contamination is especially harmful to those with weakened immune systems or a pre-existing condition who are at a greater risk of developing an infection.

What you should do: Immediately stop use of the product and contact Vernacare Canada Incorporated. They can be reached telephone at 1-800-268-2422 (ext. 236), by email at [email protected] or visit the company website.
