Pair of Brampton residents, one from Mississauga facing impaired driving charges

Three motorists from Peel Region are accused of impaired driving following investigations in Dufferin County on Sunday.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Dufferin detachment says all three drivers were charged after separate incidents.

At approximately 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, a Dufferin OPP officer received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Dufferin County Road 10 near the Second Line of Amaranth. The officer initiated a collision investigation, which led into an impaired operation investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Nadya Nawaz, 38, from Mississauga has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80-plus mg of alcohol per 1,000 mL of blood)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

At approximately 7:15 p.m., a Dufferin OPP officer received a report of a motor vehicle collision on the River Road at Centre Line in Mulmur Township. The officer also initiated a collision investigation that led into an impaired operation investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Ajaypal Singh Parmar, 26, of Brampton has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired — blood alcohol concentration (80-plus)
  • Operation while impaired — alcohol and drugs

At approximately 7:40 p.m., a Dufferin OPP officer conducted a traffic stop on Broadway near Highway 10 in the Town of Orangeville. The traffic stop led into an impaired operation investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Teja Mann, 64, of Brampton has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused driver’s licences were suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for seven days. All three are scheduled to appear in an Orangeville court in July to answer to the charges.
