After investigating a series of break-and-enters at 13 different restaurants and one gas station in the St. Catharines and Niagara Falls areas, Niagara Police has arrested two suspects.

The investigation has been going on since October and police said in all of the incidents, a large rock or brick was used to smash a glass window or door. A suspect would then go into the businesses, steal whatever cash or valuables they could find and escape in a waiting getaway car.

Yesterday (November 17), the police found and arrested two suspects in Niagara Falls, finding what they believed to be stolen goods from the looted properties.

Matthew Scott Ryce, 44, of no fixed address has been charged with 14 counts of committing break-and-enter. Hillary Mary-Lee Harris, 31, of Niagara Falls was charged with two counts of the same.

Harris was released from custody with a future St. Catharines court date of February 3, 2023 while Ryce was held in custody for a video bail hearing today (November 18) at the courthouse in St. Catharines.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact detectives by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1024233.
