Peel Regional Police laid over 60 charges in an enforcement blitz held over the weekend at Trinity Common Mall and Bramalea City Centre in Brampton.

Over Friday and Saturday (Sept. 20-21), officers from 21 Division and the Road Safety unit along with the aerial support unit conducted the blitz in the area of the two malls as part what Peel police call their “ongoing commitment to road safety.

“We laid over 60 highway traffic charges along with a slew of other charges,” said Peel officer Richard Chin in a video on a social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

“We targeted street racing, dangerous driving, excessive noise,” said Chin. “Those types of Highway Traffic Act offences that are huge community safety concerns and community complaints.”

The action takes place after similar blitzes over two weekends at Ridgeway Plaza in Mississauga, which resulted in 530 charges and 19 vehicles being seized at a location notorious for illegal driving behaviour.

The enforcement blitzes, says Chin, shows the Peel police’s commitment to keep a close watch over any illegal behaviour happening in malls across Peel Region.

“This is just a reminder, we as Peel police, are going to continue to enforce our Highway Traffic Act laws,” he said. “We want to make sure everyone in the community feels safe and (they can) go to these plazas and spend time with their families without being concerned with aggressive driving behaviours.”
