Update: As of 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, 211 homes and businesses in the area of Steeles Avenue East and Dixie Road were still without power, Alectra said. The estimated restoration time is between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
High winds downed multiple poles causing the outage, Alectra said.

A power outage was impacting over 5,000 homes and businesses in Brampton on Monday morning.
This is the second outage reported in Brampton today.
The first outage, impacting about 887 homes and businesses, was reported just before 8 a.m., according to Alectra. As of 11:30 a.m., 201 customers were still without power.
The second outage was reported just before 11 a.m. in the Steeles Avenue East and Dixie Road area between Highway 410 and Torbram Road, Alectra said.
This much larger outage is affecting approximately 5,210 homes and businesses.
Alectra said the outage was caused by downed hydro poles.
The estimated restoration time is between 1 and 3 p.m.
