Brampton driver 4 times legal limit impaired

A birthday cruise ended with charges for a Brampton driver after police say they were impaired at over four times the legal limit.

The traffic stop happened when the OPP says officers pulled over a “confetti cake-coloured” car on Mayfield Road.

Police say the 39-year-old driver from Brampton was celebrating their birthday and was found to be more than four times over the legal limit for alcohol.

The 39-year-old was arrested and charged with impaired driving-related charges, with police saying the joyride is “not a party we want on our roads.”

Penalties for an impaired driving offence in Ontario include immediate licence suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundment, and enrollment in education or treatment programs.

Police say anyone who suspects a driver of operating while impaired by drugs or alcohol is encouraged to call 911 and report it when safe to do so.
