Update: Over 2500 businesses and homes face power outage in Hamilton

Power was restored in Hamilton at approximately 4:30 a.m. this morning (June 9).

An update from the authorities on the power outage -the number of  effected homes and businesses has now reduced to 1,454. The cause for this disruption was due to animal contact.

Residents in the Upper Wentworth to Upper Kenilworth area are in darkness due to a power outage that struck at approximately 7:50 p.m., today (June 8).

The ‘limited’ outage has impacted 2,598 homes and businesses according to Alectra Utilities.

The loss of electricity is being  attributed to an overhead distribution problem, disrupted electrical service between Limeridge Rd. and Concession St.

Authorities say that they’ve now mobilized dedicated crews to assess and rectify the issue, with repair efforts already underway.

Power is set to be restored in these areas by 11:30 p.m., tonight.

As crews carry out repairs, community members are encouraged to check Alectra Utilities‘ official channels for the latest information on the impacted areas.
