Just past 6 am this morning (Feb. 23), Canadian Niagara Power got word that over 1,100 of its customers were without power in Fort Erie and Port Colborne.

The utility company instantly deployed crews and are working on the situation but as of 8 am, they still didn’t have an estimate on when power would be restored for the 1,112 customers.

Most of the outages are in the Crystal Beach area of Fort Erie.

The utility company said that since last night’s story was more ice than snow, “These conditions can lead to outages due to prolonged ice build-up and/or downed trees.  Never approach downed wires as they may still be energized.  Please continue to monitor for changing conditions when making travel plans.”

The company asks that if any customers are facing power outages, they call 1-844-501-9473.
