Halton police have confirmed that over 100 pedestrians are currently in attendance to protest the government’s vaccine mandates at Highway 25 and the 401 overpass.

Protesters have gathered in support of the “Freedom Convoy” of truckers driving to Ottawa to protest the federal government’s vaccine mandate for truck drivers entering Canada.

The routes that the truckers are taking on the QEW and Highway 401 are expected to affect traffic in Milton, Oakville, Burlington and Halton Hills.

As a result of the protest, Guelph Line and the 401 overpass has been shut down for public safety, according to police.

Traffic is being diverted onto 5 Sideroad north of 401 or Reid Sideroad south.

Police say Guelph Line at the 401 also has high pedestrian traffic and is advising the public to be alert and prepared for delays.
