Outdoor rinks at north Oshawa’s Delpark Homes Centre open for skaters; ten other Durham rinks ready to go

The twin all-natural ice sheets at Delpark Homes Centre in north Oshawa are open for skaters.
No registration or appointments are necessary – first come, first skate – and there is a 45-skater maximum, with COVID protocols in place. The rinks are unsupervised but recreation staff will be by to inspect every half hour. Washrooms at the adjoining arena complex are available for public use.
Councillor Rosemary McConkey, who spearheaded the drive to get the outdoor rinks up and running, said the more people who use the rinks the better,
“It is a pilot project and the more who enjoy skating there, the better chances of repeating this and expanding to outdoor refrigerated rinks and/or trails!”

‘Tis the season all around Durham to get outdoor rinks open for skaters while the chilly weather remains in place. Clarington is working on getting three rinks operational (Rosswell Park and Guildwood Park in Bowmanville and Tooley’s Old Mill Park in Courtice) and there are skating rinks open in Ajax (Pat Bayly Square and Audley Recreation Complex) and in Pickering (Rick Hull Park), with two more on the way. Whitby is also trying to get outdoor rinks ready for skaters in Peel Park and Brooklin Memorial Park.
All the outdoor rinks will be open as weather permits, of course.
