UPDATE: The Canada Border Services Agency said just before 12:30 p.m. on Thursday that the “systems outage has been resolved” and that service at its customs inspection kiosks at airports has been restored.
Travellers at Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga and other Canadian airports might face delays at customs inspection areas on Thursday due to another IT systems outage, the Canada Border Services Agency says.
The latest outage is similar to several others that impacted Pearson and other airports in September and October.
“There is currently a CBSA Primary Inspection Kiosks outage due to maintenance work impacting some Canadian airports,” the border services agency said in a post to social media on Thursday morning. “We are working with partners on fixing the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”
CBSA officials did not specify what airports are impacted.
The border services agency said earlier the first two outages occurred following “unforeseen technical problems” and were not caused by cyberattacks.
The earlier IT systems outages struck the agency’s primary inspection kiosks inside terminals 1 and 3 at Pearson and at other unspecified Canadian airports.
The incidents led to some delays for travellers.
The Canada Border Services Agency is the federal law enforcement agency responsible for border control, immigration enforcement and customs services at airports in addition to other locations.
