Police have suspended a driver from Ottawa after they were stopped for going more than 150 km/h on a Brampton street.

Peel Regional Police say officers were in the area of Chinguacousy Road north of Steeles Avenue shortly after 7:35 a.m. when they spotted a black SUV traveling at a high rate of speed.

Police say the 27-year-old driver from Ottawa was going more than 150 km/h on Chinguacousy, and was charged with both speeding and stunting.

The 27-year-old has been given a 30-day license suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. Police have not released the identity of the driver.

The traffic stop has police reminding drivers to slow down and follow the rules of the road or risk fines or becoming involved in a collision.
