Students at Waverly Public School in Oshawa can bring out their inner ‘ninja’ at a new playground at the school, set for its official opening Friday.

The playground will be the first at the school, which opened in 1969.

The school, in partnership with real estate firm Re/Max Jazz, launched a $60,000 campaign to build the fitness-based playground – including a ‘Ninja Warriors’ component – three years ago.

The school, thanks to a $27,000 contribution from the Oshawa-Parkwood Rotary Club in the fall of 2021, was able to meet their goal early last year.

On April 21 Waverly students and staff get to celebrate with a day of fun and games and an official playground opening. Four-hundred students in all grades, the media and the school’s community partners will be in attendance.
