Doors Open Ontario comes to Oshawa this weekend with free admission to more than a dozen museums and other attractions as the doors to history open up for residents and visitors alike.

The annual provincial initiative invites people to celebrate the architecture, history and culture of cities, with this year’s theme the exploration of Ontario’s food traditions and history of food production, as well as the spaces that shape and define our culinary heritage.

The City of Oshawa invites the community to celebrate Doors Open May 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. by visiting its unique buildings and sites across the city – many of which do not offer public visits or tours – and to check out local restaurants at the same time.

“Doors Open Oshawa is a fabulous way to experience the history and culture of our great city,” said Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter. “I encourage everyone to take part in this truly unique event and explore our rich architectural and culturally significant buildings.”
