Trevel plans for a recently retired Oshawa woman just got a little easier after she won $100,000 on MAXPLUS in the June 5 LOTTO MAX draw.

It was a seemingly ordinary day when Roberta T. decided to check her ticket at the store. As the store clerk validated it, the OLG win tone sounded and she discovered she won. “I was in shock,” she said with a smile, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her windfall.  “I didn’t expect to win big!”

She said this win came at a great time. “I’ve been playing the lottery with OLG for about 10 years, and this is my first major win.”

Oshawa’s newest lottery winner shared the news with her sister. “She didn’t believe it at first,” she said. “She and my brother were both so happy when I told them.”

“It’s surreal. I just keep questioning whether it’s all real.”

With her winnings, she plans to purchase a new car and some frying pans. “I also hope to do some travelling — maybe to Cuba,” she said.

Since 2009, LOTTO MAX players in Ontario have won over $10 billion.

The winning ticket was purchased at Giant Tiger on Taunton Road East in Oshawa.
