An Oshawa man has turned himself in to Toronto police following a fatal car crash more than two months ago.

Around 2:40 a.m. March 6 a black BMW M4 was speeding eastbound down Lake Shore Blvd. It crossed into the westbound lane and crashed into a concrete barrier near Jameson Ave.

The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries. However the passenger, a 19-year-old woman, was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition. She succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.

More than two months later on May 13, Kumaran Sankarkumar, 30 of Oshawa, turned himself in to Toronto police. Sankarkumar is charged with dangerous operation causing death and impaired driving causing death.

He will appear in a court at Old City Hall on July 14, 2022.
