Oshawa man to pay off mortgage with $88,888 lotto win

An Oshawa man is set to pay off his mortgage after winning nearly $89,000 on the lottery.

The winner, Lyle Masters, 67, likes his scratchers and recently picked up a Wild 8 ticket on a lark from the C & H Variety on Adelaide Ave. When he later checked his ticket on his tablet, he was shocked to learn he’d won the top prize.

“It’s very exciting,” he later told the OLG. The money is going straight toward his mortgage because, “After paying it off, everything will be easier.”
