The hunt for the driver who fatally injured a bicyclist in Lincoln last night is over as an Oshawa man had turned himself in.

Today (July 26) in the early afternoon, a man gave himself up to the Niagara Police in the incident.

Police arrived on the scene last night in the Sann Road North and Tufford Road North area to find a lone male cyclist suffering from critical life-threatening injuries.

The 51-year-old man from Grimsby later died.

After describing the car, the driver and his clothing, the police put out a call to nearby law-enforcing agencies, asking them for assistance.

At the time, they also said the driver “should contact legal counsel to plan a peaceful surrender as soon as possible.”

After he turned himself in this afternoon, police arrested Brent Armitage, 37, of Oshawa and charged him with failure to stop causing death.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact detectives at 905-688-4111 ext. 1009433 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
