Oshawa man arrested in newly purchased car with reported stolen licence plates

An Oshawa man was arrested last week in a newly purchased car with license plates that had been reported stolen.

According to Peterborough Police, their officers located a car near River Rd and Whitla St, a rural area of the city along Otonabee River. The officers were on general patrol in the area between Lansdowne St. and Hwy. 7.

During their investigation, the officers learned the driver had recently bought the car. They then found the license plates on the car had been reported stolen sometime earlier.

On closer inspection, they found another set of license plates inside the car which had also been reported as stolen as well as some cannabis.

As a result the driver, a 22-year-old man from Oshawa, was arrested and charged with five offences including two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, possession of cannabis in a car and using an unauthorized plate.
