Oshawa-made Silverado truck sales up five per cent in Q1

Chevrolet Silverado sales in Canada jumped five per cent in the first quarter of this year, giving the vehicle – made in Oshawa and in Flint, Michigan – 25 per cent of the fast-growing truck segment across North America.

Ford F1 truck led the market with a 34 per cent share but when Silverado sales are combined with that of its corporate cousin, the GMC Sierra, General Motors is on top.

North America-wide, Ford F1 trucks delivered 170,377 units in Q1, followed by the Silverado with 126,992. The Dodge Ram truck came in third at 105,350, followed by the GMC Sierra at 67,198.

In Canada Silverado sales earned a five per cent boost to 13,324 units in the first quarter.
