Oshawa-made Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks lead as GM Canada sales rise 28 per cent in Q1

GM Canada sales rose 28 per cent in the first quarter of 2023 with increases reported for all four brands offered in Canada.
The Oshawa-based company sold 61,093 units in Q1, with GM Canada Sales, Service and Marketing VP Sandor Piszar calling it a “great start to the year” with “strong customer demand” and improved inventory levels across the board.
“We plan to continue this momentum and win new customers in 2023,” Piszar added in a statement.
General Motors led the industry in the first three months of the year with a 16.7 percent share of the Canadian market, up three percentage points year-over-year, with full-size truck sales leading the way.
Truck sales were up 11 per cent, reflecting the impact of increased production capacity at the company’s Oshawa Assembly Plant, makers of the Chevrolet Silverado HD. The Silverado’s cousin, the GMC Sierra, re-established its spot as the automaker’s best-selling model in the Canadian market with 15,244 deliveries.
Chevrolet also sold a total of 2,982 all-electric Bolt EVs and Bolt EUVs and many of the company’s crossovers also saw significant gains.
