The re-sale value of the Oshawa-made Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD was in the spotlight this month with the truck earning the J.D. Power 2023 ALG Residual Value Award in both Canada and the U.S.A.

The award, announced earlier in February, highlights vehicles that research shows will retain the largest portion of their value over a four-year period. Conditions in both the new and used vehicle markets mean consumers are paying more attention to resale value of new vehicle purchases than perhaps at any other time in history.

The Silverado 2500 HD placed first in the Full-size Heavy Duty Pickup, one of 272 model lines considered for the award. The truck took top honours based on “used-vehicle performance, brand outlook and product competitiveness.” J.D. Power’s ALG research division used advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence to crunch the data, and experienced analysts to sift through the results.

The model was one of the few vehicles to win the award in both Canada and the U.S.A.

The Silverado HD is built at the Oshawa Assembly Plant as well as the GM Flint Assembly Plant in Michigan.
