The Oshawa-made Chevrolet Silverado HD finished sixth in a ‘most-considered’ non-luxury vehicle poll for the first quarter of 2023 taken by Cox Automotive and Kelley Blue Book, with its less heavy duty first cousin, the Chevy Silverado 1500, topping the survey.

The Silverado 1500 rose 17 per cent from the last quarter of 2022 to take the top spot from the Ford 150 for the first time in two fiscal quarters. The GM truck had been #1 for three quarters before then.

The Chevy truck’s second cousin and stablemate, the GMC Sierra, finished third in the poll, followed by the RAM 1500 and the Ford Super Duty lineup.

Pick-up truck consideration rose three percentage points as a whole in the first quarter of the year, though SUVs remain the most considered vehicle types by a considerable margin.

Established in 2007, the latest study includes both mobile and desktop users, a change implemented January 1st, 2022, providing a better response rate and a more diverse group of respondents.

Production of the 2024 Silverado lineup begins in July at the Oshawa Assembly Plant, the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and the GM Silao plant in Mexico.
