The Oshawa Legionaires had to battle Mother Nature (twice) and a two-week delay before their bats could carry them to the championship of Ontario’s U15 Premier Baseball League.

The Oshawa squad, which finished first in the regular season, squared up against the upstart London Badgers in the PBL final August 28 but lightning strikes forced an abandonment of the game, pushing the game to September 12 at Kinsmen Stadium.

The Legionaires had to battle the elements once more Sunday when rain delayed the game 30 minutes just after Oshawa had scored a pair of runs in the third to break a 2-2 tie.

The Oshawa club got right back to work after the rain delay, tacking on two more runs before blowing the game open in the fifth with five runs to coast to an 11-2 victory.

With COVID-a9 restrictions in place for most of the spring, the league did not get started this year until June.
