Oshawa holds special council meeting to honour the passing of Queen Elizabeth II

The City of Oshawa held a special council meeting Monday morning to officially express condolences on the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
“This is indeed a sorrowful time for the people of Oshawa,” Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter said, adding a letter of condolence would be sent to “the Royal Family and the people of the Commonwealth.”
Flags at City Hall and other City facilities will fly at half-mast and books of condolence will be available for the public to sign at City Hall, Delpark and South Oshawa community centres and online.
“Her majesty’s legacy of service will always remain in our hearts,” Carter added. “God save the King.”
Committee meetings originally scheduled for Monday morning have been pushed back to later in the day and this evening.
The special council meeting took 6:25 to complete.
