The Oshawa Generals snapped out of a nine-game losing streak in a big way Friday night with an emphatic 8-2 home ice thumping of the arch-rival Peterborough Petes.

Projected 2023 NHL Draft first rounder Calum Ritchie and veteran Ryan Gagnier both collected two goals and two assists as the Generals went three-for-nine on the power play.

Ritchie’s goals were his first in eight games, almost coinciding with Oshawa’s losing streak.

Oshawa scored six unanswered goals – five of them in the third period – to turn a tight 2-2 game into a rout. Six different players had multiple-point games for the Generals.

Oshawa (6-11-3) is back at it Sunday night against the London Knights (12-7-1). Puck drop at the Tribute Communities Centre is 6:05 p.m.
