The Oshawa Generals’ playoff aspirations took a beating in northern Ontario on the weekend with the club outscored 12-3 in dropping two decisions, including a Friday night tilt against a team they are chasing in the standings.

Good thing the Kingston Frontenacs, who trail Oshawa by three points for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, did not fare much better in losing their two weekend games as well. Kingston has now lost ten straight matches to fall from seventh to ninth in the standings.

Sudbury, who have been on a roll lately, clipped the Generals 5-1 Friday night and beat Niagara 5-4 in overtime Saturday to open up a six point lead over Oshawa, while the Generals followed the Sudbury loss with a 7-2 beating in Sault St. Marie.

Oshawa was missing seven regulars for that game, including leading scorers Ryan Gagnier and Calum Ritchie and rookie star Beckett Sennecke with Jacob Oster facing 47 shots in the Oshawa goal.

Tyler Graham and Ryder McIntyre scored for Oshawa Saturday while Matthew Buckley scored the lone goal Friday night in Sudbury.

The Frontenacs were beaten 4-1 by Ottawa Friday and 7-3 by Saginaw Sunday.
