Oshawa Generals get their first ‘W’ of the season, dumping the 67s 4-1

The Oshawa Generals finally got in the win column Friday night with an emphatic 4-1 victory over the Ottawa 67s, four days after a 7-3 thumping by the same Ottawa side.
Both games were at TD Place in Ottawa.
The Generals outshot the 67s 32-24 but didn’t put the game away until the third when they scored three unanswered goals – the final marker into an empty net – to register their first win of the young season.
Patrick Leaver was sharp when he needed to be, earning the first star. It was his first OHL victory and earned praise from head coach Todd Miller, who celebrated his firast victory behind the Oshawa bench.
“He was so calm in the net and was a huge part of our win here tonight.” Todd Miller said. “He played great, and he has a really bright future here with the team.
Ryan Stepien scored twice for the winners and was named the game’s second star. Third star Ryan scored the winner early in the third and rookie phenom Calum Ritchie continued his hot streak to begin his junior hockey career with his fourth goal in as many games.
