Oshawa French-language school closed after COVID outbreak

A second Durham school has shut down because of a COVID-19 outbreak – this time a French-language elementary school in Oshawa.
EEC Corpus-Christi, located on Hillside Avenue, reported its first positive case at the beginning of last week. By the week-end, six students and one staff member had tested positive and three classrooms had been closed, forcing the shutdown of the school to in-class learning.
The decision was made by the MonAvenir Catholic School Board, which is responsible for French-language learning in the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
The decision was made in consultation with Durham Public Health and students will begin remote learning starting Tuesday.
There are at least 17 schools across Ontario’s publicly funded school boards that are now closed due to COVID-19 outbreaks and more than 1,500 cases of the virus from provincial schools.

Enniskillen Public School in Clarington has been closed for a week after an outbreak that affected more than 20 students. As of Friday there were still 14 children home self-isolating.
The Province is reporting 964 new cases of the virus Sunday, the highest total since May 30. Two cases of the new Omicron variant have also been reported: both in the Ottawa area.
