Oshawa driver flees Clarington accident scene before rolling vehicle

A 71 year-old driver from Oshawa who fled the scene of an accident and subsequently rolled his SUV was one of 16 charged in the third week of Durham Police’s Festive RIDE campaign.

Police were called out to the 407 near Enfield Road around 11:30 December 4. They reported that officers were looking for a vehicle after its driver failed to remain at an accident scene.

Minutes later, with an officer in pursuit, the driver rolled his own vehicle, with his SUV suffering massive damage. The driver remained unharmed.

Police then arrested the driver and charged him with impaired driving, driving above 80 mg and failure to remain.

As result of the impaired driving charge, the man had his license suspended for 30 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
