Organizers of one of Mississauga’s most popular annual summer festivals have at least one other passion they want people to know about–basketball.

Japan Festival Canada (JFC), which hosts the largest Japanese cultural event in North America every August at Celebration Square in Mississauga’s downtown core, is also planning a couple of outings to Toronto Raptors and Raptors 905 games in the coming weeks.

Toronto Raptors Japan Day is slated for March 26 when JFC organizers invite people to join members of the Japanese community at the Raptors game in Toronto against the Washington Wizards.

Game time for the NBA contest is 6 p.m.

Prior to that, they’ll take in a Raptors 905 game on March 4 against the visiting Fort Wayne Mad Ants at Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga.

Raptors 905 play in the NBA G League, a developmental league that feeds the NBA’s teams.

JFC has been organizing Toronto Raptors Japan Day and Raptors 905 events for a number of years now.

“We are hoping to further contribute in diplomatic and cultural relations between Canada and Japan through sports,” organizers said in an earlier statement.
