An OPP officer escaped injury when his unmarked OPP vehicle – stopped in a live lane on Hwy 401 behind a broken down car – was struck by another vehicle Sunday night in Scarborough.
The officer, who was standing away from his cruiser when it was struck, had pulled in behind a car that was being driven “erratically” before stopping in the live lane near Meadowvale Road.
The driver of the broken down car – a 47 year-old Pickering man – was subsequently charged with impaired as well as dangerous operation of a vehicle. His license was suspended 90 days and his car impounded for a week.
