Ontario’s largest art gallery is launching a not-so-secret speakeasy with a full tasting menu.
Toronto’s Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) has been known to host some lavish event nights, often hosted by its Norma Ridley Members’ Lounge.
As Toronto makes its way out of a long and cold winter, starting this week, Speakeasy: A ‘60s Cultural Revolution will run at the lounge and will feature a massive roster of historical cocktails as well as an in-depth tasting menu.
“Indulge in a night where craft cocktails and the spirit of the cultural revolution bring you along for a ride, moving to a soundtrack that flows from soul and Motown to British Invasion and early funk,” states the AGO’s official events page.

Cocktails include ‘A Sudden Flash of Alchemy,’ with amaro, spiced rum, pear syrup and a shiitake tincture for maximum umami, as well as the ‘Ferver & Flame,’ with smoked tequila, fruit juice, orange liqueur, blue agave syrup, pink peppercorn tincture, and an anise wash —just to name a few.
Several non-alcoholic beverages are also in rotation.
As for the cuisine, the AGO is keeping it groovy with ‘60s high dining classics like caraway seed bread bowls, frankenfurter pigs in a blanket, and beat- infused delved eggs, while those with a sweet tooth can cash in on mushroom meringue and choux au craquelins.
The AGO aims to keep this party going all spring, as Speakeasy: A ‘60s Cultural Revolution will be running from March 18 to Jun. 8.
