An Ontario woman who won $5 million on a scratch ticket says purchasing a Reuben sandwich is among her plans for the winnings.

Waterloo resident Sarah Nellis won $5 million on Instant Mega, which is the game’s top prize, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) said in a news release.

Nellis, who is a mother of seven, said she was “certainly surprised” after she scanned her ticket using the OLG app and saw that she won.

“I shared the good news with my mom and my kids by sending them a screenshot of the winning message and asking them to check their phones,” Nellis said in the release.

“Everyone was shocked.”

She said the win has brought “a sense of relief.”

With the $5 million, Nellis plans to buy an accessible home, more Mega scratch tickets and a Reuben sandwich from The Daily Grill in Waterloo, the release said.

Instant Mega costs $50 per play.
