Ontario reports new high of 3,957 COVID-19 hospitalizations

Ontario is reporting 10,732 new COVID-19 cases today, Jan. 15 (down 232 from yesterday) and 43 more deaths, with the seven-day case average falling to 10,143.

There are 1,533 new cases in Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon), 986 in Durham, 627 in Halton, 419 in Hamilton, and 400 in Niagara Region.

The province is reporting a new high of 3,957 people hospitalized with COVID-19, breaking yesterday’s record of 3,814.

53% were admitted to the hospital for COVID-19 and 47% were admitted for other reasons but have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Health Minister Christine Elliott.

29,337,677 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario to date, including over 157,000 doses administered yesterday, Jan. 14.

91.3% of Ontarians 12+ have received one dose and 88.7% have received two doses.
